OPI - My Dogsled is a Hybrid (Nordic Collection autumn 2014) and Elevation Polish - Plumeria (Heights of Hawaii Collection, January 2014)

When I bought OPI My Dogsled is a Hybrid, i had the impression it would be a mint. But it isn't it's a light jade or perhaps a minted jade (can one say such a thing?). It's a lovely intense colour, a happy and bright note for autumn: I like it!

And just because the combination looked so lovely I added a coat of Elevation Polish Plumeria, an all circle glitter topper with blue shimmer in it's transparent base.

My dogsled was very pigmented and needed only two coats (if you are lucky perhaps just one), it dried very quickly so it's self leveling capacities were not spectacular: work fast and don't fiddle.

Plumeria was very thick and it was hard to place the big glitters. So I did as Elevation Polish says on the website: "To achieve more glitter per nail, dunk brush in polish, swipe brush on the inside neck of the bottle, grab the circle glitters from the inside neck and apply directly to the nail." For the grabbing a used a sate pin.

I think the end result is lovely: the blue shimmer stands out just enough and the soft colours of the glitter compliment the green perfectly.

BB Couture for Nails - Eve (Infamous Lovers Collection 2010)

Infamous lovers...doesn't that sound great?!
And of all these infamous lovers I choose Eve and the colour and name combination is perfection.
Eve is a murky, mossy, swampy green-brown jelly with flashy green micro glitters floating around and a vague brown red duochrome quality. It is a complicated shade (fitting for Eve) that is hard to capture in words and in pictures, but one that is very, very fun to wear!
It is an older polish (2010) but I think if you channel the Sherlock Holmes in you, it might still be possible to find this polish on the web...

The first coat was a bit streaky but the second one made all the difference and gave me these beautiful swamp nails!
This would be a very nice Halloween polish as well, come to think of it....

Sinful Colors - Emerald Envy (Crystal Crushes Collection, winter(?) 2013)

Polish on holiday number 3:

It has been a while since I posted a "liquid sand" polish: but some time ago I found this gem on Ebay.
Sinful Colors Emerald Envy is a blue-ish green with gold shimmer, that makes it festive and sunny.

Very easy this one: two coats and days and days of wear!
I think this green one is going to need some friends soon......

Essie - Going Incognito (Winter Collection 2010) in memory of those we have lost in the MH17 crash

This last post before my nails go on holiday, I felt I needed to do something in memory of all the people who died in the MH17 crash.

It has been a devastating two weeks here in The Netherlands: the caskets being brought back by those huge freight planes and the hours of unloading them were surreal to watch. As was the long procession of up to 71 hearses that had to bring the victims to the identification site. They went from Airport Eindhoven to Hilversum in a 1,5 hour drive, the last part of it is trough a densely forested area wich was beautiful and peaceful in a way: most of them finally came home...

Bron: nrc.nl

They came back home, incognito and through the green forest.

Thus Essie Going Incognito came to mind.

This was two very easy coats of forest green creme.
It's more for autumn and winter but very fitting for the occasion.

My nails and I are going on a polish less holiday, I have 12 polishes I still haven't put up so I will show those to you in the following weeks!

Have a very nice and happy holiday!

Catrice - Miss Piggy's BF (nr11)

It is high time to show a Catrice nail polish! I don't think I ever have yet.....
I have loads of Catrice polishes yet I hardly ever wear them (it's the same with my H&M, Essence and Koh! polishes). Why not, you may ask? I really don't know because the colours are very nice, the formula is very good, the brush workable...I am just so focused on my OPI's, Essie's, China Glazes, so much so that there is hardly room for others. So why do I keep buying them? Well, some colours you just need to have in your stash....it's a necessity really...! But I should start wearing them more often and I will show them here >promise<

OK: Catrice Miss Piggy's BF, as said the formula was lovely, the brush very workable: I was pleasantly surprised! The colour was great as well, nice and fresh green yet a tiny bit faded.

OPI - Next Stop...The Bikini Zone (OPI Brazil Collection spring/summer 2014)

Day 6: (still going strong here..!!) This is the last polish I have from the Brazil Collection at the moment. It is the duochrome indescribable colour Next Stop...The Bikini Zone. It is sort of silverish brown/grey with lilac and olive sheen I guess. The same sort of colour is in the latest Muppets Most Wanted Collection (Kermit Me To Speak) but then without the tiny flecks and this one has a little less colour shift.

I did three coats here but that was just for good measure, you can get by with two. I like it a lot but I think I like Kermit Me To Speak just a tiny bit better because it is a fraction more outspoken than this one.

Pahlish - Olea Europaea (fall 2013)

Day 2: Pahlish Olea Europaea.
Love this polish, I was sold on the name alone! Love the colour as well: a perfect mossy olive green with a holographic flash. The formula was OK but I needed an aqua basecoat, I had some issues with the wear when I used Sticky base and Poshé topcoat. Using my Fnug aqua basecoat and Fnug topcoat making an enormous improvement in wear.

OPI Amazon...Amazoff (OPI Brazil Collection Spring/Summer 2014)

Day three: OPI Amazon...Amazoff.
The dark one out of the Brazil Collection: it's a green teal or a teal green with slight silver pearl/shimmer.
And *spoiler alert* it is a BIG, BIG, BIG stainer, so triple up on base coat!

This was two easy coats. Although I was a bit hesitant about this shade being possibly to harsh on me...I liked it a lot and I found it not unflattering at all.
